Real Madrid Zinedine Zidane has once again thrown his support behind striker Karim Benzema after his struggles continued over the weekend.

Benzema once again failed to find the back of the net as Real claimed a 2-1 victory over Malaga, with the France international having scored just five goals for the season.

Despite his troubles in front of goal, Zidane insists Benzema will soon be rewarded for all of his hard work.

“Karim is never going to throw in the towel. Of course he’d love to score and he’s had opportunities to do so,” he told reporters when asked about the form of Benzema.

“All he was lacking was the goal, he’ll keep going. It’s been a tough year for him in this regard.”

One man who did shine in the victory over Malaga was Isco, with the Spain international claiming the opener and assist for Casemiro against his former side.

And Zidane was full of praise for a player who has often come into question during his time with Real.

“I’m pleased with his performance and his goal. It’s his home and he had a great game. I’m thrilled for him and for the team,” he said.

“This is where he grew up and he deserved that kind of reception.

“He’s been an important player for Malaga and today he’s crucial for Real Madrid.”
