Brad Smith was handed his first start of the season for AFC Bournemouth in the League Cup mid-week.

The left-back got through a full 90-minute shift as the Cherries knocked out Birmingham City via a 2-1 scoreline.

In the Champions League, Tom Rogic and Celtic confirmed their place in the group stage, doing enough in Kazakhstan.

The Hoops slipped 4-1 behind at one stage but made a certainty of the result, pegging another two goals back to go down 4-3 on the night.

The Scottish giants won the tie overall 8-4. Rogic played 33 minutes off the bench.

Back in the League Cup, Jackson Irvine played the full 90 minutes as Burton Albion progressed, defeating Cardiff City 2-1 away from home.
