Sydney FC raised more silverware while other hearts were broken during the final round of the regular A-League season.

An eighth minute goal from Bobo proved enough for Graham Arnold’s men to defeat fierce rivals Melbourne Victory on Friday night. Although the scoreline would not have dazzled most Big Blue onlookers, it would have mattered little to the Sky Blues – who were once again crowned A-League premiers after the match.

Melbourne City missed out on the chance to build confidence before the finals, as a Sarpreet Singh brace cancelled out Bruno Fornaroli’s opener and saw Wellington claim a 2-1 win. 2017-18’s final F3 Derby ended in an astonishing 8-2 triumph for Newcastle, while Brisbane Roar kept their hopes of playing finals alive by beating Perth Glory.

Western Sydney’s chances of making the top six then came to an end in a thrilling 3-2 defeat at the hands of Adelaide United.
