QPR manager Ian Holloway has showered praise on Socceroo Massimo Luongo, declaring him the Championship’s best midfielder.
Luongo scored a crucial goal for QPR at Loftus Road on Tuesday night, kick-staring their late comeback against London rivals Millwall.
Down 2-0, Luongo eventually broke through for the Rs in the 73rd minute, putting the momentum firmly in favour of the hosts and out of the hands of the 10-man Lions.
QPR went on to snatch a point from Millwall in the 2-2 draw.
Asked about Luongo’s influence after the game, Holloway told qpr.co.uk:
“That (the goal) is the icing on the cake.
“If he starts doing that then, wow, what a player we’ve got on our hands.
“The kid’s getting better and better. I’m delighted for him.
“If there’s a better midfielder in the league at the moment then I’d like to see him.”
Holloway added that he was surprised QPR did not go on to claim all three points, rather than just the one.
“We kept going and going and I’m delighted with my team – just disappointed we didn’t get all three points,” he said.
“I’m amazed we haven’t won the game. I just wish we’d had another five minutes.”
The draw moves QPR into 10th on the table.
