Aaron Mooy’s Huddersfield Town clinch promotion play-off spot


Aaron Mooy and Huddersfield Town have secured their spot in the 2017 Championship promotion play-offs with a 1-0 win over Wolves on Tuesday.

Izzy Brown struck the all-important goal at the Molineux Stadium, sending the Terriers back into third place on 81 points.

The Chelsea loanee’s goal was assisted by Mooy, who played the full 90 minutes yet again.

With two games still to play, Town boast a two-point advantage over fourth-placed Reading.

As it stands, Huddersfield will face Londoners Fulham in the first round of the play-offs, involving a home and away leg.

They have a poor record against the Cottagers this season however, thrashed 5-0 at Craven Cottage and 4-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“We are smiling today as we secured a spot in the play-offs tonight,” Mooy wrote in an Instagram post.

“Great achievement for the team as we were tipped for relegation by some. The dream is still alive.”

Mooy is on loan at Huddersfield from Manchester City for the season.
