European-based Australian attacker Awer Mabil has taken to social media to deny any rumours of a potential return to Adelaide United for the upcoming A-League season.
Since leaving the club for Danish club FC Midtjylland in 2015, Mabil has been sent out on loan twice to Esbjerg and Portuguese outfit Pacos de Ferreira.
With only a handful of appearances to his name for his parent club, rumours had begun to swirl that a potential homecoming was on the cards.
But Mabil has now made it clear, he has his “eye” set on a long stay in Europe going forward.
“Before you read this you should know there is a reason eye replace ‘I’ with ‘Eye’ 👁,” he wrote on Instagram.
“3 years ago today Eye left Home, family, friends, teammates and coaches, fans as a 19 year old looking to follow his dream. Still a very long way to go, Eye have face challenges and will continue to do so but learning to face and love them to continue growing.
“The young boy is now becoming stronger throughout all the obstacles and soon will be unstoppable. Eye am in charge of my outcome and eye will make it happen.
“It not all about football but through football eye am learning about life so eye am thankful to my talent.( we all have talents/purpose) follow yours and it will teach you many things.
“To Adelaide United fans eye am not coming home yet. Eye will suffer here in Europe to make my dreams come true first and make Adelaide proud of one their boys.”
