Bernie Ibini makes Vancouver Whitecaps debut

Bernie Ibini has secured his first minutes as a Vancouver Whitecaps player, making a late cameo appearance off the bench on Saturday night.

The former Central Coast Mariner and Sydney FC winger replaced United States international Brek Shea in the 84th minute as the Whitecaps looked to find a winner.

However, neither they nor opponents FC Dallas could do that, with the match at BC Place ending in a 1-1 draw.

Maximiliano Urruti opened the scoring for the visitors seven minutes after half time, but a stunning Cristian Techera free kick restored parity in the 74th minute.

Ibini moved to the Whitecaps at the end of the 2016-17 A-League season, which he spent on loan with premiers and champions Sydney.

His permanent move away from Club Brugge to Canada ended an unhappy stay there, which was often riddled by injuries.
