EuROOvision: Aussies headed to Wembley for promotion play-offs

Mile Jedinak and Ryan Williams are heading to Wembley as their sides chase promotion up the English Football League divisions.

Jedinak and Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Middlesbrough at Villa Park, maintaining their 1-0 lead from the first leg.

The Socceroos skipper was among the men of the match in both legs, netting the goal that proved decisive at the Riverside.

The win leaves the Villans needing just one more win to return to the Premier League after a two-season absence.

They take on Fulham on Saturday with the winner gaining promotion back to their former stomping ground.

Elsewhere, Ryan Williams and Rotherham United beat out fellow Aussie Cameron Burgess and Scunthorpe United to seal their place in the League One play-off.

A 2-0 win on the night was enough for the Millers to secure their berth at Wembley as they push for a return to the second division.

After a hugely impressive performance in the opening leg, winger Williams played 68 minutes of the game.

In Asia, Milos Degenek scored his second goal of the season and played 90 minutes in Yokohama F Marinos’ 2-1 J-League Cup win over Albirex Niigata.

It was a welcome result for Ange Postecoglou‘s side who are struggling in the league.

Mitch Duke also troubled the scorers with Shimizu S-Pulse, who defeated Consadole Sapporo 3-0.

The striker completed 78 minutes.

Ben Halloran started and completed the first half for V-Varen Nagasaki before being withdrawn in their 2-0 loss against Shonan Bellmare.

In the Asian Champions League, Matt Jurman started and played the full 90 minutes for Suwon Bluewings, who defeated fellow K-League 1 side Ulsan 3-0 to progress to the next round.
