Mile Jedinak and Aston Villa have missed out on promotion to the Premier League, suffering a 1-0 loss to Fulham at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The Cottagers claimed the final place in next season’s top division, joining Wolves and Cardiff City in moving up.

Tom Cairney netted in the 23rd minute and Fulham hung on for the remainder of the game, despite plenty of Villa pressure.

Denis Odoi was sent off for the west Londoners in the 70th minute.

Ryan Williams and Rotherham United will compete at Wembley for promotion to the Championship against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday night (AEST).

On Saturday, Jimmy Jeggo signed with Austrian giants Austria Vienna just two days after leaving rivals Sturm Graz.

“Austria has a huge potential with the new stadium and the great training conditions,” Jeggo told the club’s website.

“I want to achieve a lot as a player, am now 26 years old and switching to Austria is a big step for me. Austria Wien is for me the perfect club, where I can celebrate many successes.

“I’m really looking forward to the first day of preparation. Coach Thomas Letsch and sporting director Franz Wohlfahrt have completely convinced me with their plan.”
