France have been crowned world champions following an exciting 4-2 victory over Croatia in the World Cup final.

The French took the lead in the 18th minute, after Mario Mandzukic flicked Antoine Griezmann’s free kick into the back of his own net, leaving Danijel Subasic stranded.

Croatia were level just 10 minutes later when Ivan Perisic smashed home into the bottom corner after a wonderfully worked set-piece routine.

However, they soon found themselves behind once again after Griezmann converted from the penalty spot from a controversial VAR decision against Perisic for handball.

In the second half, France stamped their authority on the match as Paul Pogba made it three finishing off a move he started with a wonderful through pass.

Kylian Mbappe ensured his presence was felt adding a fourth for the now two-time World Cup winners with a powerful driven effort into the bottom left corner.

Captain Hugo Lloris gave the Croatians a glimmer of hope with 21 minutes remaining as his errant pass deflected off Mandzukic and into the back of the net.

Here is a look at some of the best reactions following France’s win:
