It’s that time of year again – transfers are being finalised, the excitement levels are off the scale and fans are filled with a mixture of deluded hope and worrying amounts of anxiety about what the season may hold.

For the third consecutive year, Joel Fruci and I will attempt, and inevitably fail, to predict how the Premier League season will unfold with our league ladder predictions.

The league will be broken up into four this season, the top two, third to sixth, seventh to tenth, and the bottom ten where it’s set to be a crowded fight for survival.

At the other end of the table, do not expect any sides to get within ten points of last season’s top two, but we don’t expect the title race to be as tight as it was last season; expect a gap of six points between Manchester City and Liverpool at the end of the season.

Chelsea will struggle to keep their place in the top four under the guidance of the inexperienced Frank Lampard and with the lack of a proven and potent number nine combined with their bizarre decision to gift David Luiz to Arsenal for a reported AU$14 million, they’re setting themselves up for failure.

Wolves, West Ham, Leicester and Everton will be the sides attempting to hijack the established top six after a busy and apparently successful transfer window.

Without further ado, below are our predictions of how the ladder will read come May 2020.
